If you`re looking for versatility go with adjustable shelving. If you`re in the habit of re-arranging your furniture on a regular basis adjustable shelving is recommended as it can be unfastened quickly from the wall and put up somewhere else.

Location is critical when it comes to making a decision on the style and type of shelving you want for your walls. Make sure to take measurements before you purchase a shelving system. Do you enjoy rearranging your furniture often? You may want to consider a freestanding shelving unit that will fit on any wall in your living space. Otherwise a shelving unit mounted into the wall will offer more support and hold heavier objects.

The corner shelf can also be a great place for a small television. You don`t want to put a lot of weight on them but a depending how it was mounted to the wall some can handle up to 50 pounds. Screwing them directly onto the studs can dramatically increase the amount of weight they can bear. So be sure to follow all the manufacturers recommendations and limitations to avoid a disastrous situation.

When we think of storage units for the home people often think of the bedrooms or even the kitchen and of course who could forget about areas like the garage. Oh sure. It sounds simplistic. But aren`t the simple answers sometimes the best? Maybe your problems won`t all fade away. The kids will still argue over silly things. The dog will still jump up on the pastor when he drops by. The dishes will still need washing. But maybe you`ll have time for a quiet cup of coffee in your newly-organized living space. Perhaps you won`t step on any blocks or doll-sized high heels when you go in to kiss the children good night. Or maybe you`ll just be able to find a screwdriver. Hey miracles happen.

The older corner type shelves used to have a decorative wood or metal bracket that would be visible. Although it was easily seen it was made to blend into the decor of the room. With the modern corner shelves they can be hung with out any of the brackets being seen. You can still get a large number with decorative wall brackets but a floating type design has become so much more popular.

Not only can you find some good looking corners shelves that could possibly hold your stereo speakers but you can also find them in a floating shelf design. A floating shelf is just a shelf that attaches to the wall via a bracket that has two or three rods protruding outwards. The self simply slides onto the rods and then locks in from an access screw or hex nut located on the bottom of the shelf.

Corner shelves have become all the rage now a days in today`s modern designs. Although they are hugely popular today they have been around for over a hundred years. Way back in the day people needed that little but of extra storage in every room in their house. Most of the storage was taken care of by cabinets and cupboards but these did not give anyone a place to display any of their collectibles.
